Maximize Your Phone’s Battery Life
Learn how to extend your phone’s battery life while using Scaletra.
Out on an epic RC trailing adventure? Scaletra’s got your back, tracking every twist and turn. But to keep your phone going as long as the trail does, you’ll need to stretch that battery life. Here’s how to optimize your device for Scaletra, no matter how far your adventure brings you.
Scaletra Battery Optimization
1. Switch to Airplane Mode or Offline Mode Scaletra’s Offline Mode lets you track activities without an internet connection, using only GPS. Here’s why it’s a game-changer:
- Record your entire session offline, saving battery by skipping signal searches and cutting data use.
- Heads-up: Starting or joining a Challenge needs a quick internet connection (future updates will fix this). Once underway, go offline, data uploads when you’re back in range.
2. Lock or Dim Your Screen Scaletra keeps running even with your screen is off or locked. Stretch your battery further by:
- Checking quick stats via lock screen notifications (see Phone Settings) without unlocking.
- Waking your phone only for detailed stats or route checks.
- Lowering brightness if you peek often.
3. Save Power During Breaks Paused mid-trail? Conserve battery with these options:
- Manually Pause Activity (Coming Soon): Hit pause to put GPS on standby, cutting power use. Note: Elapsed time stops too, if that’s key, try turning off GPS instead.
- Turn Off GPS: Disable GPS during breaks to save big while keeping total elapsed time ticking. Flip it back on when you’re ready to roll. (Best for non-trailing downtime.)
4. Silence Sound Notifications Turn off sound alerts to shave off extra power consumption. Tweak this in Phone Settings for a quieter, leaner setup.
General Battery Optimization
5. Kill Background Apps Background apps drain juice fast. Before you hit the trail, shut down anything you don’t need.
6. Disable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth (If Unused) No Wi-Fi or Bluetooth on the trail? Turn them off to save power. Keep GPS active, Scaletra needs it for precision.
7. Keep Your Phone Cool Heat zaps battery life. Protect it by:
- Avoiding direct sunlight.
- Stashing it in a shaded pocket or case.
8. Pack a Power Bank Planning an all-day RC trail run? Bring a portable power bank as your safety net, so your phone won’t quit before you do.
9. Consider a Newer Device Battery wear and tear and technology advancements are big factors when it comes to prolonging your phone’s battery uptime.
