Getting Started Guide
A guide for first time Scaletra Users
First Timer's Guide to Scaletra
The scale hobby is a popular global activity that combines radio control, trail running, rock crawling, model making, and diverse driving experiences. The Scaletra App enhances this hobby with motivation, challenges, and rewards, aiming to unite RC enthusiasts worldwide.
Engaging in RC scale activities promotes exploration and fitness while allowing users to connect and test their skills on various terrains. Participants can share achievements and earn rewards through the app, which will evolve based on user feedback.
Starting Your Scaletra Adventure
Once you have the app on your phone, set up your account and profile by providing basic details about yourself. Scaletra will use your height and weight to calculate various parameters in physical challenges.
Next, add the RC rigs you own to your virtual garage. Boom Racing BRX owners should register with the same email address used with Boom Racing to ensure these vehicles are automatically added to the app. Non-Boom owners will load all their vehicles' specs manually, a quick and easy process allowing you to add up to 10 vehicles, setting one rig as your default. Be aware that some challenges set by the app have vehicle-specific criteria, including Tire Size and Vehicle Class. Others will be open to any vehicle from your virtual garage.
By adding a rig to your virtual garage space, you validate its place in the Scaletra community. Additional information like manufacturer, wheelbase, wheel and tire size, axle and suspension type should be included, along with images of the rig itself.
Once set up, you can search for and follow other app users, build your community, and engage with like-minded people. Get ready to truly participate in the world of Scaletra.
Challenge or Activity?
There are two methods for recording your vehicle on the app: regular recording or participating in a challenge. If you just want to record your drive, select a vehicle of your choice and tap record! Your location, distance travelled, calories burned, and other statistics are recorded in real-time using GPS.
At the end of your trail run, tap 'Finish' on the recording page. You can add notes and images to inspire others to visit the location, find amazing spots, and turn solo trailblazing into group activities.
Upload images taken along the way, and they will be automatically placed in the correct position on the timeline.
By selecting the 'Home' tab, you can see your outing appear on the app's global timeline. The 'Following' tab allows you to view your friends' latest activities, and under 'Profile,' your feed will be updated with your latest activity.
However, sometimes you may seek more of a challenge...
Challenges are designed to evaluate your skills and equipment based on criteria established by Scaletra. Upon clicking the 'Challenges' icon for the first time, you will be presented with new challenges posted by the app. Each challenge specifies criteria such as distance, steps, elevation, rig type or wheel size.
Challenges come with their own rewards, whether virtual, actual, or a combination. Completing challenges will reflect your achievements in your trophy cabinet. Start small, such as with a step challenge, and gradually progress to more substantial ones, like a full 60K or 100m elevation change. What may seem impossible initially soon becomes second nature as you progress through each challenge. Pushing yourself and your rig is an essential part of the app's appeal, and improving your physical health is just one of the many benefits.
Once you select the 'Participate' tab in a challenge and confirm the eligible vehicle, you can choose to 'Start Activity' or 'Save For Later.' A recording of the activity is initiated, tracking your progress via GPS for distance, elevation, and other parameters. You can pause and resume the challenge at any time, and it is possible to split a challenge over multiple days to fit your schedule. Notifications about new challenges will help you plan participation.
Completing all challenges is optional, but they are designed to be achievable and rewarding.
What If I Lose Data or GPS During an Activity or Challenge?
If you start a challenge or activity with data and lose it during your outing, do not panic. The app will continue to map your progress offline if you still have GPS. You may save your activity even if you are offline. Once data is restored, it will automatically upload and appear on your recent activity timeline.
Grey areas on the timeline may indicate a loss of GPS and join the points where GPS was active. Only the data from when GPS was active will be counted towards your recording and challenge.
It is important to note that you can crop the activity before final submission. However, once challenges are uploaded, they cannot be cropped again. Always double-check everything after hitting finish and before hitting 'Save.'
Scaletra Sharing and Community Engagement
The app extends beyond individual challenges. Use the search icon to find RC friends using the app, plan meet-ups, and participate in group activities. Check out the latest challenges and use our dedicated Facebook Page to post your group's intentions. Share your achievements, comment on friends' completions, and engage with the community. Solo completion of challenges is also supported, offering a fulfilling journey. Completing challenges improves physical and mental well-being and highlights the importance of regular maintenance for your RC rigs.
"Scaletra is dedicated to fun, innovation, community, and compassion. The app will guide users through new possibilities and elevate the hobby. We look forward to sharing this journey with you… #VirtualFistBump"
